ABSTRACT:
How to improve the working of Railways?
The working of Railways can be improved by improving overall customer satisfaction, reliability of assets, punctuality of trains, cleanliness in trains/ stations and enhancement in security to prevent theft, pilferage and sabotage. We can also improve the quality of services, management of perceptions & better accounting and cost management. However, this is only an indicative list and participants are expected and indeed encouraged to redefine the value proposition for customers and stakeholders while devising their proposals.

Q.1: How to improve the working of Indian Railways?
The working of Indian Railways can be improved by improving overall customer satisfaction, reliability of assets, punctuality of trains, cleanliness in trains/ stations and enhancement in security to prevent theft, pilferage and sabotage. We can also improve the quality of services, management of perceptions & better accounting and cost management. However, this is only an indicative list and participants are expected and indeed encouraged to redefine the value proposition for customers and stakeholders while devising their proposals.

SMART CITIES – PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Passenger is the KING. It is a new 'concept' for Public Transportation using Railways. It is the INTEGRATION of Railways with latest available Technologies in other similar / related fields. It is a perfect answer for 'Driver less Car ‘concept. 8-Passenger filled Cabins transported through Railway Cargo Trolleys and shift them to their nearest places through ‘modified’ Tower Cranes / Speed Transport Mono Rails with Bullet Speed, using Electric Drives.

2. Abstract of the Proposed idea / suggestion (in about 2000 Characters)
A Great saying: - Three (3) stupid stages in life.

Teenage - Have Time & Energy but no Money
Working age - Have Energy & Money but no Time
Old age - Have Money & Time but no Energy
Most of the population on the Earth is in Working Age. If we can show the way to save the Public Time at least their travel time, this Startup will be a boon to mankind.

Why Traffic Jam Occurs? Roads are designed to handle certain level of traffic – Vehicular / Human. In due course, there will be increase in users, vehicles, and timing (People want to use the roads at the same time in their hurry, i.e., Office / School Time 09.00 a.m.)
In this project we use “Building Top” as our landing / boarding place. Every Building whether it is 2 floors or 10 floors will have a ‘Building Top’ which is lying idle. At present Tower Cranes are used for material handling at large construction sites only. With little modifications in the design and ‘Integration‘with latest available technologies in Lifts, Rope ways, etc, we can use them in Public Transportation. Hence, we can reduce the more than 50% of ‘congest’ on the roads. There are ATMs in the colony, in the streets where a lot of money transactions are taking place. The ATM entrance may be 3-ft width. Like that, we can collect people through small entrance in the congested / narrow streets, lift them to Building Top / Pick up Centre and shift them through modified Tower Cranes, then through Speed Mono Rails, then Railways, wherever needs.
Secondly, India is adopting GST in a few days. In this context, Railways play an important role in moving Agricultural Products by Cargo to the needed areas in time and save farmer community by minimizing Price fluctuations. This can be done with ‘Integration’ with related Technologies / sectors / fields like Speed Mono Rails, etc in different directions, in addition to presently available limited railway tracks.

4. Feasibility/ Viability of seamless Implementation of the proposed idea/ suggestion in existing setup, (explained in about 1200 Characters)
At present Railways are moving Cargo like Iron Bars, etc through trolleys. These trolleys can be used in Public Transportation. We can transport the ‘Office cabins ‘(like cabins in Internet centers), through Rail Trolleys, and shift through modified Tower Cranes, as shown in the Design. A Passenger wants go on his work at Parrys area from his Residence located at CMBT (Chennai). He reserved his journey through his mobile and got confirmation and details. He came to Building Top and occupied his seat in the trolley. At 08.30 the Trolley starts its Journey from Parrys area to CMBT, using modified Tower Cranes, Railways, etc. It takes one hour fifteen minutes. By 09.45 the Trolley reaches the Building Top in CMBT area where his Bank is situated and stopped. He got down and went to his cabin, wishing his staff. Thus he uses the “Driver less “Car Concept. In other words, if he is having Rs.10 lacs or Rs.30 lacs Car, and wants to travel from his Home to his Office, the possible comforts / benefits / ego gratification, he can get from his Car -- the facilities he can get through this Project. Wherever possible, we use Cycle Clubs for local movement as explained in the notes.

5. Elaboration of stage-wise migration plan of the proposed idea/ suggestion with uninterrupted operation (in about 1200 Characters)
In this Project to transport Public, the train has to ‘stop’ at exact point on the Platform, so that the passenger-filled trolleys can be shifted ‘mechanically’. From the Platform these 8-Passenger filled trolleys can be transported to the nearest Pickup Centre, by Metro / Speed Mono Rail / modified Tower Cranes in series. Railways have to adopt the Policy of INTEGRATION with other related Technologies / Services. And Software has to be developed and needed Equipment has to be made and attached to the present running trains. Coding Topic: - Metrorail travels say 5 km in a route, i.e., 5000 meters = 500000 cms. The circumference of the Wheel of the Train is 70*22/7 = 220 cm. Hence, to cross the 5 km distance, the train wheel has to rotate = 500000/220 =2273 times. Can we develop coding for the braking system to stop the train exact place like, when the route digital counter shows / reaches (say) 1st station at 1254, , 2nd station at 2015…… like that. When the train reaching 1st station, i.e., digital counter nearing 1254 revolutions, the software sends signal to braking system I, II, III, etc which will apply brakes slowly and finally stops and locks at 1254th revolution.

6. Originality of the Proposed Idea/ Suggestion explaining how the proposed idea/suggestion is an original idea/suggestion (in about 1200 Characters)
It is only INTEGRATION of Railways with latest available Technologies in Metros, Tower Cranes, Lifts, etc. to serve Passenger in an enriched manner. At present the Passenger has to come out of his home, take a vehicle and come to Railway station and board the train. After reaching his destination, the same procedure is repeated. It is causing dependency on vehicles, 2/3/4 Wheelers, resulting in heavy traffic Jam and Pollution by using fast extinct fossil fuels, like petrol, etc. Instead if we can transport the ‘Office cabins ‘ (like cabins in Internet centers), through Rail / Metro Rail Trolleys and shift the 8-passenger trolleys through modified Tower Cranes / Speed Mono Rail trolleys, to the nearest points. With this new Concept, the dependency on 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, 4-wheelers will be drastically reduced. Decongestation of thickly populated Cities will be possible by spreading to the low density populated areas, and also Traffic / Traffic Jam / Travel will be minimized. Pollution Control can be achieved to a large extent. With the adoption of this new concept, new satellite township will be developed as travel has made more comfortable.

7. Possible constraints anticipated in deployment (to be explained in about 1200 Characters.)
The possible constraints will be from the Vehicle Manufacturers, Driver Community, etc as it will affect their future Production Plans and Jobs / Business.
Some people may laugh at this concept, because the present compartments / trains are able to transport more number of Passengers, when compared to the new Project. But I am able to envisage the future, with the adoption of this concept; a drastic change will enter in to the Transport System.
Fixed Cost will be comparatively less when compared to huge Metro Stations, etc. as passengers are transported in small number at a time, but in different directions. At present Railways are having limited tracks only as their investment is heavy, and hence, they are not able to cope up with Passenger Rush. Instead, Decentralization of facilities, infrastructure can be planned at satellite townships and start get going with this new concept.

Railways are playing an important role in moving men / material from one place to other.
We can understand that Population in India is not uniformly spread / settled over the territory as per the link:-

Cities are highly congested and there are more land areas where there is no human living. To decongest the thickly populated Cities, and enrich thinly inhabited areas / villages, Railways with this ‘Concept’, will play an important role.

Passenger is King.
INTEGRATION with other latest available Technologies will take Railways to new heights in its Services.

Vertical Growth, Horizontal Growth, Balanced Growth
Balanced growth is possible with INTEGRATION of latest available Technologies, in different related fields.

Example:-

A R M Y is having Infantry, Assam Rifles, Raj put Regiment, Signal Corps, etc. These are all different Units under Army. But when War erupts, these units, including Air Force are pressed into service in required dosage, and all they work in coordination and WIN the War.

Like that, Our Goal is “PASSENGER is KING”. To serve him better, Railways can adopt the new concept, i.e., transporting the Passengers in Cabins / Trolleys. So that these Passenger-filled trolleys can be reached to their nearest places, with the help of Integration with other Technologies, like Tower Cranes, etc, as explained in notes.

‘ Driver less Car ‘ - Deliverable Story:-

We can transport the ‘Office cabins ‘(like cabins in Internet centers), through Metro Rail / Railways’ Trolleys, as shown in the Design

Mono Rail Transport in the existing Roads, Passengers will get down through lifts at Bus stops. Where ever possible the 8- passenger trolleys will be shifted to nearby Buildings / places / Metro stations, etc
This ‘Mono Rail’ which carries the trolleys can be erected above Roads Dividers and Transport Public. They can get down at Bus Stop through Lifts (or) shifted to nearby Buildings through modified Tower Cranes. Infrastructure cost is very less

“DIVIDE AND RULE “ is the Britishers Policy

I want to use the same Principle In Public Transportation.
Travel with Bullet ‘speed’. In the Public Transportation, People has to come out of their Homes, come to Railway station, board the Train, Travel, and get down and go to their Offices.
In this Project, ‘Boarding work’ is – separated - from their ‘Journey’.
8-Passengers trolleys are readily available on the Platform / Building Tops. Once, they occupied and ready for journey, the passenger filled trolley will be picked up by mono rail with electric drive and reaches the destination with Bullet speed and drop the trolley. They will get down and go out.

Design:-

In the Car, we can sit directly from outside. We cannot stand in a Car, because the height is 4 ft only. Like that, we can arrange, 4 ft height Office Cabins with revolving seats.

Height in the Compartment: - 2653 Millimeter = 8.70407 Foot
So, we can arrange 4 + 4 height Cabins.

Width: - 3250 Millimeter = 10.66273 Foot
We have to arrange 4 seats with two paths in a Railway Compartment cabin.
These Office Cabins with passenger-filled trolleys can be transported through Railways Trolleys in Rakes.

Below is the SWOT analysis for this new Concept / Project
Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats
1) It is only ‘Integration’ of latest available Technologies, like Tower Cranes / Speed Transport Mono Rail, etc
2) Fixed Investment Cost will be less when compared present Metro Stations.
3) With this Project, the dependency on vehicles 2/3/4 – wheelers will be drastically reduced. Traffic / Traffic Jam will not be there. In the initial stages this idea may not be able to cope up with Passenger rush at stations.
But for this answer is that – Public Transportation with less Investment will be in different directions as compared with present limited Railway Tracks. Travel / Traffic / Traffic Jam are the order of the day to every Urbanite globally.
Any answer for this Problem will be replicated, welcomed globally. Vehicle Manufacturers of 2 / 3 / 4 Wheelers and Driver Community will strongly oppose this new concept as this may affect their future Production Plans / Business / Jobs.

Some people may laugh at this concept, because the abnormal rush and present compartments / trains are able to transport more number of Passengers, when compared to the new Project. But I am able to envisage the future, with the adoption of this concept; a drastic downfall on the dependency on vehicles, 2/3/4 Wheelers and a new change will enter in to the Transport System.

The Budding Plant is a very small, a different shape. It will die even when a bird walks over it. But if it sustains for 10 years, become Banyan Tree, it can provide shelter to hundred of birds.
Like that, this Project / concept at this stage may seem like a foolish idea. But, by adopting this we can vision drastic changes in the Railway Transport Systems.
