Problem Solver

David McEwan

Due to my 12 month internship at Dow Europe, I have a lot of experience working on my own initiative and providing solutions. My university degree allowed me to learn a wide range of subjects from various chemistry fields so I can he a helpful asset to a plethora of problems concerning chemistry or a related subject.

Areas David McEwan is Knowledgeable in:

General chemistry.
Cement chemistry.
Materials chemistry.

Techniques David McEwan Uses:

- I consider all permutations of possible solutions to solve the problem.

- I research from reliable and resourceful sources.

- I may ask an associate what their findings are and then compare that to mine so to develop a more intricate solution to the problem.

David McEwan's Problem Solving Skills:

  1. Engineering experience for Dow Chemical; customer service and R&D.
  2. knowledge of modules and laboratory experience in organic, physical, inorganic and analytical chemistry.
  3. Masters degree in chemistry (University of Surrey).
  4. Thesis writing.
  5. Experience using various analytical techniques and equipment

David McEwan's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. - I discovered the water resistant capabilites of various Dow polymer latexes, important in correlating the properties of the latexes to their respective powder forms within a cementitious formulation.
  2. - I tested the properties and capabilities of 1:1 mixtures of Dow Latex Powders (DLP) within a cementitious material (for wall and tile plasters). This project was initiated to test the suitability of said cementitious mixtures to allow the expansion of the DLP global market share.
  3. - I developed a novel project involving the synthesis of 4 patented "novel catalysts for oligonucleotide synthesis".
