bob Jones's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. Lights, Camera, pop!
Exploring what really happens when bubbles burst with high speed video (up to 10,000fps) requires a lot of intense light - hot enough to make fluid covered bubble props literally steam in minutes. Venting that heat requires an industrial air conditioning system and sometimes gusty conditions.

I got the bubble-expert gig on Time Warp (Discovery Channel) in part because during the interview process I anticipated the lousy atmosphere for bubbles and gave the production company (PromaTwo Productions, ON, Canada) a "heads up".

Armed with bubble solutions capable of withstanding the punishment of their studio meant less time wasted & fewer union-scale downtime hours billed.
  2. I worked with an urgent care patient facilitator (gratis) to develop new methods of including bubbles in therapy at children's hospitals - especially bubble activities to calm breathing, help the doctors judge nerve functions & coordination and as a distraction technique to use during very uncomfortable medical procedures.
  3. What is the best solution?
Since 2007: Evaluating bubble solution concentrate formula for Bangwool Land Co. South Korea. Preparing and testing various formulations & reporting results via written, photographic and video correspondence.

On 5/16/09 Bang-Wool Land Co. earned a Guinness World Record for Number of People in a Bubble: 90.
  4. How to get bubbles to perform on cue?
San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park 2008 & 2009 summer season. On-site bubble skills coaching, on-retainer consultant & prop construction. The Billion Bubble Show at the Benough Amphitheater, produced by Michael Wulffhart, ARIMAW Productions.
  5. "No"!?
In 2007 with less than 12 hours on account to work with, I helped an established inventor in Massachusetts (protected by NDA) save many thousands of dollars... by disappointing him.
Invited late to the process, just prior to ordering fabrication of prototypes, I reviewed the plans, detailed the faults, armed myself illustrative & documented examples to prove my case and thwarted his dream.
Then I gave him a couple of work around ideas to get his heart beating again.
