Problem Solver

Marcelo Ackermann

We are a dedicated 'problem solving' company, providing the service of outsourcing R&D for more than 10 years now. Mainly aimed at the space industry for many years, we are now developing a strategy to expand our services to the semiconductor, medical, security and academic world. We offer to be your partner in applied phsyics for all your R&D efforts.

Areas Marcelo Ackermann is Knowledgeable in:

Physics in general. We have within our company an extended expertise in Optics and Detectors, Metrology, X-ray (optics, detectors, sample environment, applications, sources), Lasers and High-energy physics.
Most of our services have been dedicated to the development of space based applications, working for NASA and ESA. Most of our employess have a PhD in physics, but we also employ mechanical, software and electronics engineers (MSc).
We would like to help people solve problems related to physics and metrology.

Techniques Marcelo Ackermann Uses:

We always try to combine existing technology with our knowledge of physics and the present available techniques at the research level. The offered solutions range from

Marcelo Ackermann's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. We have developed X-ray optics fully based on (coated) Si wafers to replace the older metal based technology. The new technology will be a factor of 10 lighter, making it possible to produce much larger optics that can still be launched into space. In the development, we have extensively used existing technology from the Si (Semiconductor) industry, making the development (and production) faster and cheaper.
  2. We have developed a miniturized laser source for use in space environment (i.e. on board space crafts). This laser source is no larger than a matchbox, consumes no more than 5w of power, yet is powerfull enough to burn a hole in an Al sheet, or send a signal over very large distances. This is a multipurpose laser source for use as a research tool on planetary exploration or as a metrology tool on board space crafts (laser altimetry).
  3. We have developed a turnkey 3D video camera system that is now used on board the ISS (International Space Station). This camera system works so well that this product is now being converted for commercial used, and will be launched on the market this spring.
  4. We have developed a metrology tool to measure the quality of optical fibers as they roll out of the production machine. This metrology tool inspects and reports on several parameters requested by the manufacturer in real time. This machine has now been in use for several years on the factory floor, and is so well designed that no update or repairs have been requested by the user since it was designed more than 4 years ago.
  5. We have developed a hand recognition system that is incorporated in the handle of a door, automtically unlocking the door when an authorized person takes hold of the handle. We have also incorporated a wireless network access to the system inside the doorhandle for easy updates and configuration of the system. The client is so satisfied with this product that we have recently been requested to develop the second generation of this system.
