Mark Cleary's Problem Solving Skills:

  1. Risk analysis
  2. Product design
  3. Drafting software - Solidworks, Catia v5
  4. Statistics (R and minitab)
  5. Matlab
  6. Design for manufacture (particularly injection molding)
  7. Qualified professional pilot
  8. Master of engineering science applied mathematics and control
  9. BE degree in Mechanical Engineering
  10. CAD

Mark Cleary's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. Mathematical modelling of a mechanical dose counting mechanism and loading of an aircraft.
  2. I created a new equation for modelling radiation heat transfer from buildings containing fires, where the radiation is falling on a building facade which does not lie in a plane parallel to the facade of the building on fire. I validated the equation using the principles contained in the current fire safety guidance document BR 187.
  3. I designed a new control system for use in Hard Disk Drives. The control system was based on a relatively new control technique. My job was to firstly examine the feasibility of using it in Hard Disk Drives, then design the controller.
  4. Monte Carlo simulation. Statistical tolerance analysis
  5. Mechanical design - research, concept and detailed design. Automotive bracket system. Medical safety syringe, 6-axis satellite gyroscope.
  6. I have wrote a number of programs in Matlab, in relation to mathematical modelling of mechanical systems, and solving associated mathematical problems.
  7. I developed a "growing fire" CFD model for use in modelling fires in buildings. I programmed it entirely myself. The model has been used in many CFD studies since.
