Problem Solver

Olga Kukal

I tend to work swiftly and synthetically, searching for solutions to problems employing an interdisciplinary. In the past I have been most successful in bridging different disciplines in solving problems. For instance, in order to screen metabolites key to enhanced freeze tolerance in high arctic caterpillars I have used nuclear magnetic resonance in collaboration with an NMR chemist. I believe that problems can be solved more expediently when individuals with expertise in different fields are brought together.

Areas Olga Kukal is Knowledgeable in:

- low temperature biology
- storage and transport of living cells, tissues, organs and living organisms

Olga Kukal's Problem Solving Skills:

  1. synthetic thought in problem solving in different branches of science
  2. management of investments
  3. raising funds & business management
  4. development of media for cells, tissues, organs
  5. cryobiology
  6. low temperature biology & biochemistry

Olga Kukal's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. I raised funds for research and development companies that conducted the above research.
  2. I developed together with Tom Allen new cell media for extending semen to be used in artificial insemination. This includes unique extenders for use in bovine, porcine, canine, equine and human genetics.
  3. I developed and patented, together with my partner Tom Allen, a novel packaging method for storage and transport of perishable biological materials.
  4. I commercialized hypothermic storage of perishable foods.
  5. I legally defended the hypothermic storage technology with a major grocery chain.
  6. I developed & patented, together with my partner Tom Allen, a process of storage and transport of biological materials at subzero temperatures.
  7. I raised funds for commercialization of the above inventions.
