Problem Solver

Peter Lazou

I am noted for my charismatic and entrepreneurial spirit which has enabled me to deliver results through innovations that I have been involved in. As a catalyst, no problem remains unsolved. They are just obstacles requiring a paradigmatic approach to the final deliverable

Techniques Peter Lazou Uses:

Flexibility is a crucially important feature in problem solving hence the following are some techniques I use. As an Entrepreneur there is no one set of techniques used other than my experience of solving problems

A First and frequently overlooked step in problem solving is to identify the assumptions that are being made about the situation.

Front end entry points - Most problems are attacked on the front end first. However there is really more than one front end because a give problem can be attacked from any one of several angles

Beginning at the end - a problem can often be more easily solved by starting with the solution and working backwards toward the problem, filling in the necessary steps along the way.

Rival Hypotheses is use and explanation of the collected data for the problem at hand

Modeling is used to descripbe or present the problem in a way that aids in understanding or solving the problem

Peter Lazou's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. With the financial services industry driving forward and developing mobile applications to serve customers online banking needs, I have embarked on a journey to capture a missing space in the financial services sector. A space that will provide customers with new engaging tools to help drive their revenue opportunities, cost efficiencies and most importantly transform their customer retail banking experience. No bank currently offers an integrated set of automated, customer focused, audio screen-enabled, financial product sales tools and experiences such as what we bring to the industry. It delivers the confidence and trust through our next generation in banking, allowing relationship managers to navigate through a wide range of information while also automating, processing and completing forms and applications for instant approval.
  2. In 2006 I set up a start-up company called Asia Pacific Digital Solutions Sdn Bhd which obtained MSC status for a revolutionary desktop technology innovation that I had been working on with my colleague in the US, that captured a new interactive learning experience while transforming products and documentation into real-time digitised transactions that was then translated into an intelligent dashboard for the deliverance of critical data for management review and analysis. The concept was to present data in a digital format while archiving all documentation electronically thus reducing cost and improving efficiency. The product was completed in conjunction with CIMB Bank and was focused on the automotive industry. However, it has a wider application across many disciplines such as Wealth Management, Insurance etc.
  3. During 2002 – 2006 I was instrumental in securing 3 year contracts with Mercedes-Benz Retail, BMW GB, Porsche GB and Cycle and Carriage Malaysia, to design, supply and implement a biometric multi-user electronic key control management solution across their dealer network for the monitoring of their vehicles and its keys. The advantage of this solution was that any vehicle or key could be monitored across the country from any dealer location. Access to dealer and customer vehicle keys was only feasible by the use of biometric fingerprint technology.
  4. One of my other major achievements was the development of a unique intelligent IVR (interactive voice recognition) solution for Co-operative Bank, which provided secure One-Time Combination code instructions for ATM machines remotely. The application was developed to work with various industry based self-powered safe locks. Using a self-powered lock to open and close the safe, the crew using cellular technology would activate the lock by issuing and receiving relevant instructions from the main server. Once the vehicle, crew and branch authorisations were complete, only then would the solution allow access for replenishment or service. Inclusive within the application was the ability to measure critical usage and resource data for management review in order to improve productivity and ROI. The solution was later deployed to National Australia Bank, Melbourne.
  5. I was a pioneer back in the 1980’s for the first computer based digital Finance and Insurance System developed for Ford Credit Europe. The F&I application developed was to provide Ford Dealers with the opportunity of presenting their own finance offering to its customers with the provision of instant credit approval within 3 minutes of the application being transmitted to Ford Credit. The client based application also offered various payment option comparisons using various graphical presentations to help the customer make the right decision.
  6. designed a system to secure the various keys required to operate the cash-in-transit trucks in secure steel drawers operated by biometrics. Each time a vehicle approached the vault-loading bay anywhere in the UK, the system would identify the vehicle then release the loading bay doors so the vehicle could enter. Once the loading bay doors were locked, the driver would have to hand over the main ignition key attached to a Dallas key chip through a secure vault tray. The vault officer would read the keys against the main reader attached to the drawer, which would unlock the ignition key drawer so the ignition keys could be inserted. Once locked the system would released the safe keys from the other secure drawers so that the crew could load or unload the trucks. The ignition key would only be released once all the corresponding keys were returned. The system achieved the Finalist Award for “Innovative Excellence” at the 1999 IFSEC.
