OTHER INVENTION IDEAS I HAD THAT WERE EVENTUALLY MARKETED AND/ OR PATENTED BY SOMEONE ELSE

1976: TALKING CALCULATOR FOR THE BLIND.
A calculator where the numerical result would be in audio format. My first invention where I made a real prototype. I submitted this to CNIB, but learned to my dismay that a Swiss company had beat me to it. This turned me off of Inventing for quite some time.
Was patented and marketed.
TOOTHPASTE PUMP Was patented and marketed…this one was a big hit!
SOUNDING BASEBALL FOR THE BLIND.
Ball beeps, which help blind individuals locate it. Was patented and marketed
EJECTION MODULE FOR AIRCRAFT FLIGHT DATA, COCKPIT VOICE RECORDERS AND BLACK BOXES.
Flight data recorders, black boxes, cockpit voice recorders should be all together and ejected from aircraft using air bag technology or pressurized gas to eject the unit intact from the rear of the aircraft when impact occurs. A parachute, floatation device and radio beacon transmitter would protect the device and permit easy recovery. A recorder could record the impact location in the event of a crash in water. Another beacon transmitter could remain with the wreckage. Currently when aircraft crash in water, it takes great effort to recover these devices, and since they are not all located together it makes it more difficult. Luckily, aircraft quite often crash in relatively shallow water. If a crash occurs in deep enough water these devices may never be recovered.
Patents now cover this device and should be integrated into the commercial airline business soon.
TEMPORARY AUTOMOTIVE FAN BELT.
Gets you to garage if your fan belt breaks instead of using someone's pantyhose. Marketed by Canadian Tire a few years ago.

LIGHT SENSITIVE CONTACT LENSES.
Adjust to sunlight intensity automatically. With an increasing number of people using contact lenses, this would eliminate the need for sunglasses. A Patent exists on this product, but it is unknown whether it was marketed.

AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM FOR GROCERY CARTS.
Shopping cart add-on self-braking mechanism to prevent cart runaway causing vehicle damage in parking lots. Now patented and marketed.
BICYCLE LIGHTING SYSTEM.
Provides constant light even when the bike is at rest by charging Nicad batteries with a generator.
Now patented and marketed.

COMPACT DISC ANTI-COPY SYSTEM Now patented and marketed.
REMOTE CONTROL AUTOMOTIVE STARTER.
Start your car on cold winter mornings from the comfort of your home. Now patented and marketed. This product has been marketed very successfully for many years now.
DUAL CLIP-ON ROLLER BLADES / SKATES.
Skates and roller blades all in one.
Now patented and marketed.
MUSICAL TOOTHBRUSH.
Activated when the toothbrush is used, tunes encourage kids to brush their teeth.
Now patented and marketed.
GARDEN GARBAGE BAG HOLDER (FOR LEAVES ETC.) T-Rex Bag Holder sold in Canadian Tire.
TIRE HI / LO PRESSURE WARNING DEVICE.
Battery powered, this device would screw onto the tire valve stem and remain there. If the tire pressure falls below or rises above preset levels, an intermittent audible warning beep would attract the driver's attention. A different tone and / or frequency could warn of low battery power.
Now patented and marketed.
MRI SCANNER RE-TUNED FOR DETECTION OF IRON DEPOSITS IN ORGANS MRI scanners are tuned to the resonance frequency of the hydrogen atom in the water molecule. It could be tuned to the resonance frequency of the Iron atom, so that Iron build-up in the body organs could be non-invasively measured. This would be an invaluable tool in the diagnosis of the genetic disorder Hereditary Hemochromatosis which causes excess Iron buildup in the blood and eventually in the organs. This will cause organ damage if left unchecked. Cancer thrives on Iron, so this could be a useful tool in the prevention and treatment of this disease also, as it would show possible target areas of cancer. If the scanner's transmitter alternately outputted the two (or more) sequenced resonance frequencies, multiple scans offering different types of information could be obtained at the same time. This would make MRI scanners more effective, as scan times are usually quite long, and costly. Beyond this, a changing sweep frequency transmitted signal coupled with receivers using a known principle called "triangulation" could scan an entire body in seconds and yield an incredible amount of information, far beyond what is currently possible. Now patented. A researcher in Australia has now succeeded in making this a workable reality.
BIODEGRADABLE DOG (DROPPINGS) PICKUP MITT / BAG
Most people that walk their dog take along a plastic bag to put over their hand in order to pick up their pet's mess when it occurs. With the millions of dogs out there, this is not environmentally friendly! A biodegradable plastic mitt / bag that the person would wear on the hand to pick up the mess could be turned inside out to form a sealed bag, perhaps with a handle such as a hole. Could be sold in bulk boxes of 50-100 to provide a cheap environmentally friendly solution to this situation.
Now patented and marketed.

MANUAL WHEEL CHAIR RATCHET.
When sitting in a manual wheelchair, it is extremely difficult to push it up a ramp without it rolling backwards. An add-on ratchet mechanism would prevent the wheels from going backward, making life easier for those using them.
Now patented and seeking licensing partner.

AUTOMATIC PAINT ROLLER CLEANER
Cleaning paint rollers is time and energy consuming. Insert it in this device and water is re-circulated through a filter to clean it.
Now patented and marketed.

CAMPING WATER CONTAINER WHEELED CART AND/OR STAND
Filling your water container can be easy with this aid!
Now patented and marketed.

POWER OUTLET RECEPTACLE HAS BUILT IN NIGHT LIGHT
Possible features could include on/off switch and/or optical sensor for low light activation.
Now patented and marketed.
UNIVERSAL HOOK FOR INSTALLING CEILING FAN / LIGHT FIXTURES.
It is extremely difficult and frustrating trying to install a heavy ceiling fan / light fixture by yourself, as you have to connect the wiring prior to hanging it. The weight must be supported during this step, usually by a second person. A simple universal hook to eliminate the weight during electrical connections would make this much easier, and could be used by all ceiling fan / light fixture companies. One fan company has recognized this difficulty and they have a U.S. Patent that incorporates a special bracket for their own fan. (Hunter Fan Company U.S. Patent # 6,036,154 March 14, 2000). If this patent proved to be a problem, the entire fan including the electrical connectors could be made to "push and turn to lock" allowing for easy assembly and cleaning, as ceiling fans are prone to collecting dust, and are hard to clean. Now patented and marketed.
PAINT CAN WITH BUILT IN POP UP SPOUT. Pouring paint from a can is messy and awkward. A can with a built in re-sealable pop up spout and vent would eliminate this.
Now patented and marketed.
RECHARGEABLE 6-VOLT CAMPING LANTERN BATTERY and / or FLASHLIGHT
Large 6-volt camping lantern batteries are costly, do not last very long and pose an environmental disposal problem. A rechargeable version that could either be charged off a vehicle 12-volt battery and / or 117 VAC household current would be a great solution to this problem!
Now patented and marketed.

ARMY TANK SPRING OR EXPLOSIVE LOADED ANTI-MISSILE DEFLECTOR PLATES.
Now patented and marketed.

HOUSEHOLD INFRARED HEAT/COOL LOSS DETECTOR.
Device clearly illustrates where heat/cool losses are occurring in the home using infrared camera technology. An entire business could be built on this principle. Quickly locate sources of leakage to save on heating/cooling costs. A similar type of technology is currently being used by hydro utilities to detect high voltage arcing occurring on power transmission line insulators that break down over time. Cool! The government and power companies would really be interested in this one!
Now patented and marketed.
