My ability to come up with new ideas on how to promote our organisation (a music festival) meant we spent £0 advertising an event which generated over £500,000 in one weekend for the local economy.
This meant arranging publicity-hungry press events and organising them in such a way to attract significant attention.
A particular incident that springs to mind was how we could generate visitors from elsewhere in Scotland. I quickly drew up a list of reasons why people would visit the town and whittled my list down to tourists and workers. I contacted one of the major oil firms in the town and arranged for them to agree sponsorship and a dramatic press launch, utilising their fire training rig to generate attractive promotional photographs.
