As much of my life has been spent in the furniture designing world any solutions/inventions that I have developed are not going to be as flash as 'genetic screening technology etc' that you list as a suggestion!
I am interested in developing techniques for freeing up creativity in what are seen as craft areas, such as relief patterning of panels.
I use standard practices in unusual ways to give the final work the immediacy and creative whoosh of drawing.
I once made a lovely contraption for putting dirt under your fingernails so that you could be perceived to be a green fingered gardener even if you only had a wilting herb garden on a window sill!
