David McCormick's Problem Solving Experience:
- I teach a class that trains engineers how to communicate their ideas. By using simple sketching techniques, engineers can explore and share solutions for mechanical engineering problems. I have taught the class at Boeing, Labconco, Amcor and others.
- I established an early stage/concept development function in a medical device company. The effort was successful in identifying customer requirements and defining product designs that satisfied those requirements. Being a small company, there was no engineering department so we then designed, documented and tested prototypes and pilot production
- In a small appliance manufacture I established a new product development department. That resulted in taking the company from 50 million dollars in sales to over 300 million. The increase was primarily due to new product introductions that either were created in my department or evaluated by me to source or acquire.
