Techniques LaVera Caston Uses:

I think on the problem, read early and up-to-date information regarding its history, approach, and solutions. I allow my mind to meditate on the problem as I go about the daily activities of my life. I relate the problem to simple tasks (simplify the problem) and problems in my daily life (nature, simple inventions, solutions, simple activities). I process thoughts of how, when, where, why, what for. I pray about the problem and ask for wisdom. I wait on an answer to come to my process of thinking.

LaVera Caston's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. I set up a Sunday School class for pre-teens (6-7th grades) who were less responsive in an atmosphere of high school aged students. The students thrived among their own peers and became more active in church related activities.
  2. I brought increased funding to the classroom in the Dallas ISD teacher classroom. I completed a survey with a summary titled, "Pennies to the Classroom."
  3. I wrote a grant that earned funding for a church to develop assisted living for seniors. It was a Chase Bank Community project in Dallas, TX for seniors. The grant was to fund building an apartment complex that would provide security, transportation, and activities to seniors who wanted to downsize their living acommodations, needed support in various physical activities or medical needs, and activities while socializing with their peers.
  4. I discovered a micro-organism in our research laboratory cell culture that contaminated our laboratory. It was a fluorescence green then camouflaged to look like the cells in culture only during the mornings cell changes. We decontaminated our entire research lab.
