Aircraft Maintenance and Aircraft Reliability Engineering Software System (ARESS)
Safety is a key technical issue in aviation industry. This patent provides a comprehensive assessment and evaluation of safety level of aircraft subsystems through generating a comprehensive Reliability Report for each aircraft in fleet of an airline (also helicopter fleet and General Aviation). It also assists maintenance units of airlines to maintain technical failure data and monitor reliability estimations through generating a great number of plots based on very complex reliability analysis computations for all subsystems of each aircraft in an airline's fleet.
A brief description of the capabilities of the patent
This invention (and the developed software system) is a comprehensive and advanced package designed and developed specifically for comprehensive reliability analysis of aircraft subsystems. This patent in fact presents for the first time some comprehensive data-driven methods, ideas and a comprehensive and complete software system for numerical assessment and evaluation of reliability of all aircraft subsystems.
This invention presents methods, ideas and software system named “ARESS”, short for Aircraft Reliability Engineering Software System. This advanced innovative Windows software utilizes the modern software technologies and it is a state-of-the-art integrated environment and world-level solution that can provide for the first time a comprehensive reliability analysis for all subsystems of all aircraft models existing in a fleet of an airline. All types of aircraft and subsystems can be analyzed by the software system.
Determining and knowing reliability estimations of each subsystem of an aircraft is very important and essential task.
The software with its powerful and DYNAMIC algorithm is designed to provide comprehensive reliability analysis computations for any airplane model; several examples with data for some modern passenger airplane models show that how the software works by using simulated and real data sets for their subsystems.
The powerful computational engine of the software includes two computational modes: non-automatic mode (MRDA) and automatic mode (ARDA). In the MRDA mode, all analyses are controlled and intervened by the user through selection of the analyses' options. In the ARDA mode, all the computational steps are controlled and executed automatically by the ROBUST, POWERFUL and DYNAMIC algorithms of the software system.
After all the analyses are completed, a very comprehensive output, i.e. "Reliability Report", is generated for a pre-selected aircraft in a Microsoft Excel workbook consisting of several sheets, each dedicated to one particular aspect of reliability analyses. In each sheet, all systems and subsystems of the selected aircraft are listed along with their relevant computations in a highly structured colorful format. This is the most important and special output of the software system.
Another output of the software concerns its monitoring section. The section has also been introduced and developed by the inventor for the first time. This section provides numerical monitoring capabilities on all aircraft subsystems through generating, say, 50, 100, 200, 500 or more plots of graphs on reliability estimations. The number of plots depends on the number of subsystems of the aircraft. The safety of each subsystem can be evaluated by the plots that show the situation of the subsystems over time. If a plot concerning a subsystem indicates an unusual situation, which can be indicative of an alerting situation for that subsystem, then the subsystem needs to be inspected exactly by the existing aircraft maintenance procedures and techniques. The plots are generated for all subsystems of an aircraft in jpg file format. They are generated in a very little time sequentially and then categorized automatically by the software according to the corresponding systems and subsystems in several separate folders for evaluation and inspection process of the fleet 's maintenance unit.
Incidentally, all records of the provided reliability analyses can be accessed and monitored record-by-record through several comprehensive panels designed and developed for the purposes.
The comprehensive methods and ideas of the patent are ALL thoroughly introduced, developed, and implemented by the inventor for the first time.
As a conclusion, the invention is in fact a key solution and product for aviation safety and aircraft maintenance in airline industry, helicopter maintenance, General Aviation industry, and etc.
