Matthew Brondum's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. I built a geo-spatial model to determine how the private sector responded to Hurricane Sandy in the NYC Metropolitan area. I have presented this work at multiple conferences.
  2. I utilized association rule mining on point of sale data from a large grocery chain to enable effective decision making on product assortments.
  3. I created my own internship which attempted to develop a systematic, data-driven way to identify repeat offenders using a criminal database.
  4. I developed a decision model which aids land managers in choosing from a variety of eradication techniques for invasive wild pigs.
  5. I identified weaknesses in business intelligence by analyzing a data set of over 100,000 news sources, concluding that the current system for maintaining web crawlers was highly inefficient.
  6. I developed a decision framework that analyzes nano-materials and allows the user to prove to regulators that their material is safe for humans and the environment. Further, I developed the software to allow a user to seamlessly go through the framework.
