First of all, I actually ask as many questions as possible to assess what the problem is and what the end-user is actually attempting to do or where the problem actually is. I will then either then talk them through a set of instructions to remedy their problem or if it is more complex I may need to do some more in-depth research first and then come back to them and I will then help solve their issue until they are happy and as they say 'Flying again!!!'
If the problem is outside of my knowledge area then I would instead point them to someone or a team that can actually help them with more complex problems than I can deal with or that I feel I cannot deal with.

  4. Fixed office equipment back in my teen years before I joined the Royal Navy Submarine Service Communications branch. I loved fixing machines for our customer's and being on call for dealing with slightly higher priority work in the field.
