Phillip Brumm's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. Developed a novel maltodextrin product, produced test batches of product at Enzyme Bio-Systems, and then transferred technology to Corn Products.
Brumm P.J., Process for the Non-Random Cleavage of Starch and the Low D.E. Starch Conversion Products Produced Thereby, U.S. Patent 5,612,202, to Enzyme Bio-Systems Ltd.
Brumm P.J., Low D.E. Starch Conversion Products Having a Sharp Differentiation in Molecular Size, U.S. Patent 5,886,168, to Enzyme Bio-Systems Ltd.
  2. Used experience with biomass-degrading enzymes to identify enzymes capable of degrading Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms in vitro (US patent application 20140134149).
  3. Principal investigator on 3-year, $1.5 million DOE grant “Novel Enzyme Products for the Conversion of Defatted Soybean Meal to Ethanol”. With industrial collaborators, developed enzyme products for improving soy protein production. Developed a separate product for improved production of ethanol from corn.
