Stericycle, the main player in North America, charges $1400 / tonne, as there is virtually no competition. Municipal waste tipping fees range from ~ $65-$125 per tonne, so you can see the mark-up is substantial. I am on the verge of providing alternatives saving hospitals and the like, but cannot disclosure my sources at the present time.
