Problem solving.

Techniques Trevor Eppel Uses:

Problems are usually solved either intuitively or systematically. Intuition is used when no new knowledge is needed - you know enough to be able to make a quick decision and solve the problem, or you use common sense or experience to solve the problem. More complex problems or problems that you have not experienced before will likely require a more systematic and logical approach to solve, and for these you will need to use creative thinking.

Trevor Eppel's Problem Solving Experience:

  1. In my 12 years with the Warehouse group I have designed and implemented a number of enhancements required to their systems to fulfill business needs. These include web store, POS systems, legacy ERP system, BizTalk interfaces as well as a range of smaller peripheral systems.
  2. I owned a restaurant called "Frankies Wurstbude" in Auckland. Through blood, sweat and tears we (My wife and I) built our establishment up from scratch, from designing the shop, building it and deciding on our menu. Then becoming a chef.
  3. Successfully completed the Client Server Y2K conversion of The Foschini Groups systems. These systems consisted of 114 applications written in a combination of VB, Pascal and Clipper and running on SQL server as well as Access databases. Many of the systems interacted with their mainframe databases and interfaces had to be modified. The entire project was outsourced to my company, OutLook Systems Technologies (OST), and I employed a team of 4 of my own people along with 8 Foschini employees. The project began in 1997 and was successfully completed in December 1999.
