Viktor Popov's Training:

I have led a research group at the Wessex Institute of Technology from 1 February 2001 until 30 September 2013, when I have established Ascend Technologies Ltd. Though I have no formal training, I have fifteen years of experience.

Viktor Popov's Experience:

Head of Environmental Fluid Mechanics Division at the Wessex Institute of Technology (2001 - 2013) and Director of Ascend Technologies Ltd (October 20013 to date). I have been in charge of organising research in larger groups, e.g., Chill-On (http://www.chill-on.com/), where I was in charge of the Risk Assessment work package with approximately 20 participating institutions from Europe, South America and China. I have been the NATO country Project Director for the Sustainable management of the international waters - Prespa Lake
NATO – Science for Peace Project, Grant Ref: SFP 981116. I have managed the research in other research groups/projects over the years.

Viktor Popov's Experience with Online Groups:

In all the projects there were online meetings, telephone/Skype conferences, and the same was in the Chill-On 4-year project, where there was an estimated 60+ researchers involved in the Risk Assessment WP only. That was perhaps the most challenging research activity that I have organised and managed to date, considering all the deadlines that were specified in the Description of Work, especially because the work in the WP had to be coordinated with the input/output of the other three WPs. However, I still have telephone conferences related to consulting/research on regular basis, therefore I am quite comfortable with this aspect.
