Horizontal Or Vertical Take-off Or Landing (HOVTOL) aircraft

Summary:

Full Description:
A semiautonomous directed, autonomously controlled, gyroscopically stabilized, horizontal, or vertical take off or landing (HOVTOL) aircraft.

The aircraft employs two vertical lift fans in its aerodynamic lifting body fuselage. The vertical lift fans are equally and longitudinally spaced from the center of gravity of the aircraft for all vertical lift. The vertical lifting system is integrated with optional configurations for a tractor fan, a pusher fan or a pusher-tractor fan combination for horizontal propulsion.

All of the aircrafts vertical and horizontal propulsion is congruent with a single drive train, which affords design options for either single or multiple engine configurations. All of the aircrafts propeller blades are incased to prevent accidents. All flight regimes are effected without rotation of the aircrafts fuselage or propulsion system.

The aircrafts autopilot system is interfaced to a patented semiautonomous flight director (SFD), which provides for ease of operation by a pilot with minimal to no prior flying skills in order to safely operate and fly the aircraft.

In summary, the combined affect of the HOVTOL aircraft and SFD inventions is to safely afford a novice user the utility to safely fly, land, and take-off horizontally like a conventional aircraft and at the users discretion likewise fly, land, take-off, and hover like a helicopter.
