Normally, the seating arrangement in buses or any other mass transportation vehicle is like the passenger will be facing in the direction of motion of vehicle. It is better to reverse the direction of seating arrangement of passenger to avoid any damages during minor accidents.

INTRODUCTION:

As we all know the tendency of body to keep moving once it is set in motion results from a property called INERTIA. This property we can observe in our daily living while travelling in a vehicle.

Problem in the present scenario:

So the problem with the current seating arrangement in buses is that the passenger will be facing in the direction of motion of bus. Once the bus is in motion, by virtue of inertia passenger will also be in motion. Once the motion of the bus is halted suddenly due to accident, the passenger will fall if he has not taken any support due to inertia.

Solution:
----------
I think solution is simple and straight forward i.e. reverse the direction of seating arrangement. Let us see what happens now if an accident takes place when the seating arrangement is reversed. Let us assume that the bus is travelling with a speed of 60Km/hr and passengers are sitting without holding anything in their seat. While overtaking, the bus drives hits to a tree which is on the roadside at a speed of 30Km/hr(since he has tried to reduce the speed by applying brake. In this case even though the passenger has forgotten to take any support still it does not affect him much. Because in this he will not fall forward instead he will be pushed in the backward direction(with respect to the passenger who is sitting in the reverse direction). So now the chair which he is sitting will itself give support to his back so that the passenger will not fall even though he has not taken any support.

Drawbacks of reverse seating arrangement:

Of course, it will cause some irritation for some passengers. This is the only drawback which i can mention here.
