bicycle regenerative accelerating system (BRAS)

Summary:
A purely mechanical lightweight regenerative braking device for bicycles.

Full Description:
With a weight of less than 2.5kgs and an unobtrusive design that does not spoil the looks of the bicycle, it is capable of accelerating bike and rider to a speed of at least 10 km/hr (depending mainly on total weight of bicycle and rider, braking speed and ground gradient).
The braking energy is stored in a flexible medium placed around the rear axle which is connected to the wheel through a simple gear mechanism, or, for fitting to existing bicycles, in a nearby position and connected to the wheel by chain drive.
Efficiency is expected to exceed 95%.
It works fully automatically both during storing and releasing energy and requires no special controls.
It can prove very usefull in town and mountain cycling, three-wheeled cycle taxis and all uses with frequent start-stops.

Problem this idea/invention addresses:
Stores the kinetic energy that is otherwise wasted during braking and uses it to accelerate bicycle.
