Flexible Luggage Rack

Summary:
Flexible luggage rack that mounts in the receiver hitch of a vehicle and does not interfere with the opening of the back hatch. It is also easy to install in the hitch and will swing out of the way when accessing the rear of the vehicle.

Full Description:
The flexible luggage rack is a 2' x 5' base that has a expanded metal floor with angle iron frame. There is a square tube bar that slides into the receiver hitch on the vehicle and the base hooks into this bar. The base has wheels that swing down and are adjustable so that the whole rack can roll around like a cart. Once the rack is in proximity of the vehicle the height can be adjusted to match the height of the trailer hitch. The rack can be slid into the locked position and the wheels swung up to their riding position. There is a pivot on the right side of the rack so that when access to the rear hatch is needed it can be unlatched on the left side and swung out of the way. Holes can be drilled into the angle iron frame for ease of strapping luggage down. This luggage rack floor can have slots to accommodate bicycle wheels, which would be easy to load and strap down. Being able to swing loaded bikes out of the way would be a big help when traveling.

Problem this idea/invention addresses:
Luggage racks for vehicles are cumbersome and difficult to use. There are two main racks; the types that sit on the roof and the type that hook into the receiver hitch. My flexible luggage rack is versatile and easy to use.
