Low Profile Ice Skates

Summary:
Typically ice hockey skates have been inherited as the skate stock for permanent and seasonal rinks, where the edge of the blade is commonly 65 or 70mm from the sole of the boot. This patented invention reduces this height, lowering the centre of gravity and making it easier to skate

Full Description:
The new ice skate design takes the blade to the sole of the boot, resulting in minimising the distance between the sole of the boot and the ice to a maximum of 20mm. Any existing boot design can be used, with the blade fixed to it in the normal manor with rivets. The construction of the reduced blade takes less material and therefore reduces cost

Problem this idea/invention addresses:
The invention overcomes the difficulty of learning to ice skate, reducing the risk of falling and making a more positive experience for the novice

Auxiliary products or services for sale:
Prototypes are available. One pair in each of six boot sizes from child to adult. It is estimated that the ice skates (blades and boots) could be made for $15-20 with a sale price of $40-50
