2x3D System Lets Viewers Choose Their Views

2x3D System Lets Viewers Choose Their Views
Dec-04-13
The 2x3D system allows people to view the same screen simultaneously in either 2D or 3D, opening the door to screens that display text in different languages or show different layers of objects.

The system, developed by the Shirai Lab at Kanagawa Institute of Technology, uses a pair of projectors to send the video images. The device makes use of a picture-generating algorithm and a system of graphics processors to create 2D image that can be seen by the ‘naked’ left eye, while wearing a polarizing filter on the right eye will make the 3D images visible.

Currently, the system suffers from low contrast, but the team hopes to solve the problem by using more projectors.
