3D Camera Wearable Helps Visually Impaired Navigate
Jun-16-17
MIT researchers have developed a wearable 3D camera system that helps the visually impaired navigate.

The system, designed to help users identify objects, is made up a 3D camera, a belt with five vibrating motors, and a Braille interface. As the wearer navigates their environment, the system monitors the area and uses smart image recognition algorithms to identify objects such as empty chairs or approaching people, alerting the wearer via vibrations or the Braille pads.
