3D-Printed Lens Offers Eagle Eye Vision

3D-Printed Lens Offers Eagle Eye Vision
Feb-24-17
A 3D-printed lens less than the width of a human hair could open the door to tiny, camera-equipped drones.

Developed by a team at the University of Stuttgart, the system is the only one currently able to print different optics onto a single imaging sensor. The result is a multi-lens camera with vision comparable to a predator, with images in the center vision showing at a higher resolution than images in the periphery. This vision system would allow drones or robots to focus on their task, while also remaining aware of the environment around them.
