3D-Printed On Demand Battlefield Drones

3D-Printed On Demand Battlefield Drones
Dec-20-17
3D-printed battlefield drones would allow units to specify ‘aviation assets’ that could be delivered to the field in just a few hours.

In development by the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, the On-Demand Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems, or UAS, would be ordered from a catalog of sorts that allows the solider to outline the mission and choose the best drone for the task. The drone would then be 3D-printed, using off-the-shelf components when possible to keep the costs low.

The U.S. has released a documentary detailing the 3D-printed drone research and applications.
