3D-Printed Surfboard Fins Personalize the Ride

3D-Printed Surfboard Fins Personalize the Ride
May-05-16
Australian researchers are taking surfing on a new wave by creating 3D-printed fins tailored to riders and their local waves.

Whereas current surfboard fins are expensive to make and tend to use a single mold, the 3D process could open the door to personalized—and affordable—fins. The team at the University of Wollongong has already created a batch of fins, which they are testing via a GPS tracking device to record specifics of the ride.
