3D-Printed Vision Tires Change Tread as Needed

3D-Printed Vision Tires Change Tread as Needed
Jun-15-17
Michelin’s new Vision concept tire combines the wheel and tire into one, sensor-laden unit.

The Vision tire is 3D printed with an interior structure similar to the lung’s air sacs, resulting in an airless tire that will not go flat. The tire’s biodegradable core would act as the wheel, while the tread could be 3D printed to provide optimum stability on specific terrains. The condition of the tires can be monitored in real-time via the embedded sensors, and the tread could even be ‘recharged’ or altered to suit various conditions.

Are there multipurpose spare wheels? It would be glued on original rim and then filled without tools or jacks to allow temporary driving.
