ACCSIL Field Dressing Heals and Protects

Sep-19-16 The ACCSIL field dressing helps protect and heal wounded limbs by protecting the damaged tissue for up to three days.

Developed by Battelle under the sponsorship of the US Office of Naval Research, the Acute Care Cover for the Severely Injured Limb is designed for use when evacuation is not an option. To help keep the wound moist and protect the tissue, the ACCSIL features two layers. The exterior cover wraps tightly around the limb to protect it from dirt and stop the bleeding. Meanwhile, an interior “bioactive” layer embedded with chemicals that fight pain and infection keeps the wound moist to help prevent bacteria growth.
