Aerogel-Filled Bricks Offer More Insulation

Aerogel-Filled Bricks Offer More Insulation
Jan-17-18
Insulating bricks filled with an aerogel paste could eliminate the need for additional layers of insulation in buildings.

The aerobricks consist of standard hollow clay bricks which have been filled with a paste of aerogel particles developed by the team at Empa. In studies, the aerobricks offered about a third more insulation than similar sized perlite-filled insulating bricks, and showed an eight times efficiency over standard bricks.
