IBM has been granted a patent for their AI-controlled light, which replaces the typical timer with cameras that monitor traffic flow in real time. The system would then use that data, along with its AI powers, to determine how a change in traffic at one intersection would alter the traffic flow at the other intersections. According to Tristan Greene, “IBM thinks its AI solution would work well because it is a task a human could easily do.”
