Air-Chair Eases Aircraft Travel

Sep-23-18 The Air-Chair wheelchair integrates into the aircraft, making it easier and safer to transport passengers with reduced mobility.

Developed by a team from the American University of Sharjah, the Air-Chair was designed to ease the transition from the airport terminal to the aircraft while increasing passenger comfort and dignity. To that end, the Air-Chair can move through the airport like a standard wheelchair, and then slip onto and attach securely to the existing aircraft seat for the journey. The Air-Chair allows the user to remain in the same chair for the entire journey, reducing the need to request external aid and increasing their sense of freedom and security.
