Air Cork Preserves Wine from the Inside

Air Cork Preserves Wine from the Inside
Dec-17-12
The Air Cork keeps opened wine fresher longer by creating an airtight seal to inhibit oxidation and preserve flavors.

The Air Cork is made of a food-safe natural rubber balloon attached by a hose to a hand pump. When the balloon is lowered into the bottle of wine and inflated by the pump it creates a seal against the inside of the bottle that lasts for up to three days. Because the pump sits outside the bottle, the seal can quickly be re-established if the balloon begins to deflate, and a release valve on the pump allows the balloon to be manually deflated as desired.

The makers of Air Cork claim their device retains the flavor of the wine better than vacuum stoppers that work by removing the air, which results in the loss of some of the wine’s aromatics.
