The Anagog system lets users find open parking spots and spots about to be open with their smartphones—and doesn't require additional hardware to be installed in existing infrastructure.
The app uses crowd sourced data collected by mobile devices. By monitoring the location and movements of the user, the software can determine when a person has parked and gotten out of their car, as well as when they are approaching their car and drive away. This information is displayed in the form of a street map that users can access to view vacant or about-to-be-vacant spots.
The system will only show spots vacated by other Anagog users, so its functionality is currently limited to the 100,000 users in Israel. However, the more people choose to use the system the wider its usefulness will become. The system has already been integrated into the EasyPark service, which notifies subscribers when parking spots open, and the FindMyCar app, which records where users parked their car and guides them back to it.
