At-Home Urinalysis Test

Jul-26-18 Health.io has released the first at-home, smartphone-assisted clinical grade urinalysis kit.

The system relies on a color-changing dip stick that will change color when exposed to certain biomarkers, a plastic plate with colored spots, and a companion smartphone app. After the sample has been taken, the smartphone’s camera is used to take a photo of the dip stick and plastic plate. The spots on the plate allow the phone to compensate for any lighting differences and camera types, while the app accesses the color on the dip stick and sends the results to the chosen healthcare provider.
