Autonomous Navia Shuttle Transports Students and Shoppers

Autonomous Navia Shuttle Transports Students and Shoppers
Jan-01-13
The driverless, electric Navia shuttle was designed as an on-demand transport for areas inaccessible to conventional shuttles, such as shopping malls and universities.

Developed by the France-based mobility solutions firm Induct, the shuttle can carry up to eight passengers at a maximum speed of 12.5 mph. Navigating by its laser range finders, cameras and GPS technology coupled with accelerometers and gyroscopes, it can instantly calculate its location and move safely and autonomously in any environment.

The Navia is set to be tested at Switzerland’s Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), and may soon also be shuttling passengers around the University of West Florida and Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University.
