Autonomous Oil Spill Response System Sets Sail
Aug-29-19
The autonomous oil spill response system from Sea Machine Robotics will quickly respond to spills without the need for humans to be on site.

Hailed as the world’s first, the response vessel system was developed in cooperation with the US Department of Transportation Maritime Administration, and is equipped with autonomous waypoint and gridline tracking that can be controlled the operators onshore. Once in location, the vessel’s response tools, including its onboard boom and skimmer belt, can be activated to control and clean the spill. According to the developers, the autonomous capabilities allow the vessel to respond at any time, regardless of available manpower, weather conditions or danger from toxic fumes.
