A ‘radical’ flexible, conductive polymer could bring us even closer to the elusive bendable smartphone.
Developed by a team from Purdue University, the glass-like polymer is made from common materials and can be affordably manufactured on a large scale. The material also looks and feels like glass, being extremely transparent and ‘remarkably stable to air, water and other moisture conditions.’ In addition to its potential smartphone applications, the polymer film could eventually be used as an invisible patch applied to the skin to monitor heart rate or blood sugar levels.
