Biodegrable Adhesive Reuses CO2

Biodegrable Adhesive Reuses CO2
Dec-19-19
A biodegradable adhesive made using repurposed carbon dioxide offers a greener alternative to plastic—and could spur innovation.

The adhesive was developed by a team from Boston University after a two-year process, and consists entirely of naturally-derived chemical compounds. According to the team, a key to the adhesive’s design is carbon dioxide, which makes up 20 to 40 percent of the honey-like material and offers a novel way to repurpose the gas. Not only will the adhesive stick to a range of surfaces, it is safe to use on the body and will break down after only a year.
