Developed by a team of international researchers, the patent-pending technology mimics biological processes by manipulating oxygen concentration to control the growth rate and pattern of hydrogels. The team found that higher oxygen concentrations will inhibit growth in targeted areas, allowing the team to create complex 3D shapes as the hydrogel grows at different rates.
