Bionic Bra Provides More Support When Needed

Bionic Bra Provides More Support When Needed
Dec-08-14
The Bionic Bra was developed to ease the discomfort of physical activity by providing more or less support as needed.

The Bionic Bra has been in development for fifteen years, but the recent advancements in technologies are bringing the bra closer to realization. The bra is made up of "smart yarn," coiled fibers that will contract and provide more support when triggered by the bra's embedded motion sensors. The actuators for the fibers is currently built into the back of the bra, but the team believes they will be integrated into a different area of the bra as the design is streamlined.

Close to one in five women report that they avoid exercise because of the pain caused by excessive breast movement, and up to 85 percent wear bras that are not fitted correctly.
