Biosensing Tattoos Monitor Glucose and Hydration

Biosensing Tattoos Monitor Glucose and Hydration
Jun-09-17
Keep tabs on your hydration level with the biosensing tattoos from the Dermal Abyss project.

The tattoos, the result of a collaboration between MIT and Harvard teams, are made up biosensing inks that will change color in response to different levels of pH levels or glucose in the body. The team believes the tattoos could help reduce the number of pin pricks required by diabetic patients, or warn the wearer when they need to rehydrate.

This would be ideal if the change of colour would indicate 5mmol changes or increases in a diabetic tattoo, so that they would be able to see that thier blood glucose was increasing. with the individual then becoming aware of the threat of a hypo or high glucose reading. refer to ketone blood test strips also with the revelation of ketoacidosis on a diabetic individual.
although an excellent idea, it would be limited to 18+ persons. an alternative method for youth should be considered.
