BlindCap Cues Turns for Blind Swimmers

BlindCap Cues Turns for Blind Swimmers
Aug-09-16
The Samsung Blind Cap lets blind swimmers keep their head in the game by sending directional cues via vibrations.

Typically, swim coaches must tap the swimmer with a stick when they near the approaching wall, which is less than ideal and must be timed very carefully.

Created by Samsung in collaboration with Spanish Paralympic Committee and Cheil Spain, the cap is designed to offer a less awkward way of warning swimmers when they near the wall. As an alternative to the coach's tap, the Blind Cap concept would see a swim cap fitted with a small vibrating sensor that can be triggered by an Android app to alert the swimmer when it is time to flip and turn.
