BolaWrap Safely Subdues Suspects

Dec-05-19 Designed for use by police officers, the innovative BolaWrap from Wrap Technologies will subdue subjects with minimal force.

The BolaWrap was created to offer an alternative to non-lethal but more painful options, such as Tasers. A bit like a gadget from a superhero’s belt, the BoloWrap is equipped with single-use cartridges that will propel an eight-foot Kevlar cord up to 513 feet per second up to 25 feet. Assisted by a targeting laser, the officer can fire the BolaWrap at a fleeing (or advancing) suspect’s arms or legs, where small metal barbs on the end of the tether will snag the suspect’s clothing, causing the cable to wrap around the individual and render them safely helpless. The cartridges are recyclable, and a new one can be loaded into the BolaWrap in under eight seconds.
