Brain Pacemaker Could Treat Alzheimer's
Feb-03-18
An innovative brain pacemaker could offer treatment for the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.

Being investigated by a team from Ohio State University, the system relies on deep brain stimulation (DBS) to deliver mild electrical stimulation to the frontal regions of the brain. According to neurosurgeon Ali Rezai, who is conducting the clinical trials, the procedure “holds promise for improving connectivity, cognitive and functional performance, and should be further studied in Alzheimer's disease."
