Breathalyzer Smart Key Reduces Drunk Driving

Breathalyzer Smart Key Reduces Drunk Driving
Mar-27-16
Developed with professional drivers in mind, the breathalyzer smart key from Honda and Hitachi won’t let you start your car if you’ve had too much to drink.

Still in the prototype stage, the device pairs with an ignition interlock system to prevent the car from starting if detects alcohol on the use’s exhaled breath. The team also created a system that will show the registered alcohol level on the vehicle’s display panel.

While there are other similar systems already available, the Hitachi/Honda system differs in that it can be used before the driver gets in the car.
