BreathJunior Monitor's Infant Breathing with White Noise

BreathJunior Monitor's Infant Breathing with White Noise
Oct-20-19
The BreathJunior smart speaker system developed with Amazon Echo will soothe an infant to sleep while also monitoring its breathing.

The BreathJunior device developed by a team from the University of Washington relies on a smart speaker playing soothing white noise and a device that records the noise as it is bounced off of the infant’s chest. With the help of some useful algorithms, the system is able to cancel extraneous noise and ‘listen’ only to the signal created by the baby’s breathing motions—combining a white noise generator with a contactless baby monitor.

In tests, the BreathJunior performed as well as standard monitors that are attached to the baby’s chest.
