Buzzed Buzzer Sounds the Horn on Intoxicated Partiers

Buzzed Buzzer Sounds the Horn on Intoxicated Partiers
Dec-26-12
The Buzzed Buzzer helps party hosts keep an eye on their guests’ intoxication level, only sounding if the horn-blower has reached a certain level of inebriation.

Offered as DIY project, the materials include a standard party horn, Arduino microcontroller, alcohol sensor, some code and a few other bits. The code looks for the presence of alcohol on the breath when the person blows into the horn, with enough alcohol causing a spike that will trigger the horn. Assembling it requires some experience with a soldering iron, and all the pieces together will cost about $30.

The horn is not meant as a substitute for a true breathalyzer, but because the code can be set to need a lot of alcohol to trigger the alarm it could be a good way to check the intoxication level of reluctant friends.
